
MSU MANKATO RUGBY FOUNDATION BOARD
MISSION STATEMENT
This Board along with the MSU Rugby Alumni, are to support the long-term sustainability of the game of rugby at Minnesota State University-Mankato, while maintaining the traditions and attitudes of the rugby players that came before us. This will be done though, but not exclusively with financial support, mentoring, volunteering, and backing the gap between the limited university funding and overall support to keep the sport of rugby competitive and long-lasting presents on campus.
GOVERNANCE AND EXPECTATIONS
Minimum number of board members will be no less than 5 members. This is the target for a non-profit who has a 501C (operating under Blue Earth Area Rugby - ID#1005219500031) by the IRS. All Board positions are non-pay / non-commission.
The Board will consist of:
Chairman/President:
Leads meetings and oversee strategic planning and direction.
Secretary:
Maintains official records and meeting minutes.
Treasurer:
Manages financial oversite and reporting. Will retain independence and tax-exempt status of the 501C. Responsible for maintaining and publishing the annual budget.
University and Club liaison:
Leads and maintains the open lines of communication and direct between the Board and the current rugby club members and the University.
Members at large:
Bring diverse skills without being tied to a specific administrative role
Offer support to on-time sensitive or special projects
Contribute to quorum and participate in board meetings as full voting members
Contribute additional oversight and balance to all other members on the board.
Board officers carry three core values:
· Diligence: Making informed decisions in the best interests of MSU Rugby
· Loyalty: Prioritizing the organization (MSU Mankato Rugby Foundation) over personal gain
· Obedience: Adhering to the mission statement and directions of the Board
Financial Support and Fundraising
Endowment Funds: Board to set up long term endowment fund program.
1. Monthly stipend set up to do automatic tax-exempt payments direct to the Mankato Rugby Alumni Foundation
2. Irrevocable estate and/or will donation trust program that will go directly to the Mankato Rugby Alumni Foundation and executed by the Board of MSU Mankato Rugby Foundation
Yearly Budget
A nonprofit budget template outlines projected revenues and functional expenses for an organization, helping track grant funding, donations, and program costs. There will be, open to the public and all members of the MSU Rugby Alumni, an annual budget that is set by the Board.
MSU Rugby Alumni Weekends
The Board will work with the current President of the MSU Rugby Alumni, President of the MSU-Mankato Men’s team, and the President of the MSU-Mankato Women’s team to host the Alumni Reunion Weekends that will be held every five years.
